Remember me… How amazing is Coco?? 🏵🎶

Long and I both grew up in Hawaii, which is considered to be a melting pot; however, despite the blend of different cultures, we were never really exposed to Mexican heritage. In fact, for the longest time, the closest thing we got to "Mexican food" was Taco Bell… I know, I know, we're ashamed to admit it.

It wasn't until we got older that we had to mindfully seek out real Mexican foods, and along with that came the culture.

Living in SoCal and meeting people of Mexican descent brought more insight into the culture and some of their struggles. I have fond memories of sitting down on a curb, taking swigs of Woodford reserve with a dear friend of mine who was of Mexican descent, and bonding over how similar our cultures were. We both loved spicy foods, could not talk back to our parents or else we got the slipper/ruler (or whatever was close by), and we both had parents who had a coming to America story.

I guess what we are trying to say is that because we didn’t grow up with Mexican influence in the Hawaiian Islands... we are greatly appreciative that Coco beautifully displayed to the world a wonderfully understanding piece of Mexican heritage that will always be worth remembering. Feliz Día de los Muertos! 💕

P.S. Because of the lack of Mexican influence in Hawaii, we decided to take this photo at a beach that reminds us of our time in Cozumel☀️
